EAST LONDON– Amatola Water has achieved a remarkable milestone with the international accreditation of its laboratory, officially recognised by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) under the prestigious ISO/IEC 17025 standard on 30 October 2025.
The accreditation follows an intensive evaluation process, confirming that the water utility’s laboratory meets globally recognised standards of precision, reliability and scientific excellence.
This accomplishment strengthens the organisation’s position as a key player in ensuring high-quality water services across the Eastern Cape.

Acting Chief Executive of Amatola Water, Jackson Johnathan said that, “This accreditation is a proud achievement for Amatola Water. It demonstrates our unwavering commitment to excellence and reinforces public confidence in the quality and safety of the water we provide to our communities,” he said.
Earning the ISO/IEC 17025 certification places Amatola Water’s laboratory among a select group of international facilities recognised for technical competence in testing and calibration. It highlights the utility’s capability to produce fast, accurate results and to respond effectively to water quality challenges across the province.
