KUGOMPO CITY- A gospel revival note is set to echo across the Eastern Cape this week as vocal ensemble 7th Harmony_SA prepares to release its long-awaited debut single, ‘Vukani Makholwa’ on 1st May.
Meaning ‘Wake up, believers’ the song arrives as both a spiritual call to action and a reflection of the times, urging listeners to recommit to faith, integrity and purposeful living.

The group says the message is rooted in strengthening conviction amid uncertainty, a theme likely to resonate with many in local communities.
The release also marks a significant comeback for the ensemble, originally formed in 2007 in KuGompo City. After a hiatus of more than a decade, 7th Harmony_SA has regrouped with what members describe as renewed purpose and a sharper musical vision.

At the helm is group leader and music director Ando Nkohla, who has shaped the group’s sound and direction.
Nkohla, also the songwriter behind the debut track, said the aim is to create music that uplifts while remaining grounded in gospel tradition.
Furthmore the production on Vukani Makholwa was handled by Siyabonga Hlekani, a name familiar in South African music circles for collaborations with artists such as Teargas, Nathi Mankayi and Vusi Nova.
The track blends Eastern Cape gospel roots with elements of jazz a cappella, giving it a distinctive sonic identity.

The group features a diverse vocal lineup, including Mihlali Mngonyama, Mihlali Yozi, Nomgcobo Diniso, Hope Ntshona, Nikita Jaceni, Akhona Mafani, Lunga Mpehlo and Nkohla himself.
Together, they deliver layered harmonies aimed at conveying both musical richness and spiritual depth.
In addition with its debut offering, 7th Harmony_SA is positioning itself not just as a musical act, but as a voice of encouragement and unity.
Vukani Makholwa will be available on digital platforms from 1st May.
