COFIMVABA– In a heartwarming show of compassion and community support, Eastern Cape Finance MEC Mlungisi Mvoko in partnership with ABSA Bank, handed over food parcels and blankets to 100 elderly women and their families in Ncorha village on Wednesday.

The initiative, aimed at supporting the most vulnerable members of society, was warmly welcomed by local residents many of whom continue to face economic hardship.

Speaking at the handover, MEC Mvoko thanked ABSA for its generous contribution and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the elderly. “We are proud to partner with ABSA Bank to bring relief to those who need it most, our government remains committed to creating a better life for all particularly our senior citizens who have contributed so much to our communities.”
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the assistance , a recipient Nolisimi Sobutyu, shared her gratitude, “I have seen food parcels being donated before, but these ones are different. Today, I am truly happy to receive them.” Another local resident, Ngwekazi Ndungane from Ward 18, added “We now have something to eat. Even those who have no means to care for themselves will benefit from this.”

ABSA’s contribution forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility programme, which focuses on sustainable community development and social upliftment.
This collaboration with the Eastern Cape government underscores ABSA’s commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of South Africans.
