WHITTLESEA- Empumelelweni Senior Primary School in Dongwe Location, Whittlesea near Komani welcomed a heart warming initiative aimed at empowering Grade 7 learners to reach their full potential.
On 1st November 2024, Unmasking Men’s Emotions a non-profit organization(NPO) founded by Luxolo Mvandaba partnered with local philanthropist Chuma Msamo and Shoprite/Checkers to donate essential stationery to the school.
The gesture was met with gratitude from parents and learners alike, who acknowledged the socio-economic challenges faced by the community. Unmasking Men’s Emotions founder Luxolo Mvandaba said, “We are thrilled to support these dedicated learners our goal is to maximize their potential and foster a love for learning.”
The donation included vital stationary tools such as pens, pencils, notebooks and examination pads.
Notably, some learners had resorted to using makeshift pens and incorrect writing materials, highlighting the urgency of the initiative.
Sponsor Chuma Msamo emphasized the importance of giving back to the community. “Empowering our children is key to building a brighter future,” Msamo said.
Furthermore Chairperson of the School Governing Body(SGB) at Empumelelweni Senior Primary School, Zuyisile Komnqelani expressed profound appreciation for the generosity shown by Mvandaba, Msamo and Shoprite Checkers.
“On behalf of the parents, I extend our sincerest gratitude for your remarkable efforts, your selfless contribution has brought joy and hope to our children and we are forever thankful,” Komnqelani said.
Empumelelweni Senior Primary School learner Asanele Phandoyi said, “As Grade 7 learners, we are truly thankful to Mr. Mvandaba, Mr. Msamo and Shoprite Checkers for the generous gifts they gave us today.”
Phandoyi’s words echoed the sentiment of her peers, many of whom hail from disadvantaged backgrounds where even basic necessities like pens and pencils are a luxury as learners prepare for their exams, Unmasking Men’s Emotions offered words of encouragement.
“We wish all the learners good luck with their exams and pledge our continued support.”
This collaborative effort serves as a shining example of community-driven initiatives making a tangible difference in the lives of local youth.
