EAST LONDON- Seismic Media is set to make waves with its upcoming prime time drama series, ‘Dirty East,’which is capturing the essence of Mdantsane and East London.
The production team has just wrapped up an exciting collaboration with the Afrika Unite Rooftop Experience music festival, where they’ll be filming a pivotal scene for the pilot episode.

Local musician and rising star, Sinesipho Unathi Magwa has been cast as Thandi Mvulane a character hailing from Nxuba.
Sinesipho will be performing live alongside music icons like Mawhoo, Zuko SA, Zain SA and Jaziel Brothers making for an electrifying scene .
The series boasts an impressive cast, including Andile Nebulana, Zola Nombona, Luzuko Nkqetho, Zandile Msutwana and Rorisang Mohapi. With support from the Eastern Cape Provincial Arts and Culture Council (ECPACC) and the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), this project aims to promote local talent and contribute to the growth of the Eastern Cape’s film and TV industry.
Dirty East Producer and Seismic Media Executive Producer, Mariza Matshaya said, “This is more than just filming it’s a celebration of Eastern Cape talent and culture and a bold step towards authentic, impactful South African storytelling.”
In addition the live scene shooting is set to take place at Hemingways Rooftop on 14 December 2025, from 14:00 to 21:00, with shooting taking place at 19:00.
Matshaya further explained that their collaboration with the Afrika Unite Rooftop Experience allows them to weave the real, vibrant energy of the community directly into the heart of Dirty East.
