QONCE– At just eight(8) years old, Sibalwethu Mhlantla from Dikidikana village in Qonce is proving that age is no barrier to success. The bright Grade 2 learner from Schornville Primary School recently made her mark on the national stage, being crowned 1st Runner-up in the Miss Teen Grand South Africa Junior category on 05 October 2025 in Pretoria.
Representing the Eastern Cape with grace and determination, Sibalwethu affectionately known as Siba is steadily rising through the ranks of South Africa’s pageant scene.

Her journey is rooted in both talent and resilience, shaped by the nurturing environment at Live Your Dreams Modeling Academy in Mdantsane under the mentorship of Buhle Bakhe Rungqu.
Furthermore her mother, Asalinto Mhlantla, shared how Siba’s modeling journey began as a way to build confidence after she developed facial warts at the age of five. “Despite the challenges, I encouraged her to join modeling classes to help boost her self-esteem,” said Asalinto.
Tragedy struck the young star’s path when her father, her biggest supporter, passed away in August. Devastated, Siba contemplated withdrawing from the competition. “As her family, we rallied around her and encouraged her to honour her father’s memory by continuing to pursue her dreams,” her mother added.
Siba’s story is one of courage, passion and unwavering family support. She stands as a shining example to other young girls across the Eastern Cape and beyond, proving that with perseverance and love, no dream is too big.
