Home of Legends Excellence Awards to honour EC Talent

EAST LONDON– The Home of Legends Excellence Awards has announced its latest cohort of nominees, recognising outstanding contributors in poetry, news reading, culture, presenting, acting and motivational speaking.

The announcement was made on 20th November 2025 during a media briefing in East London.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for 05 December 2025 at the East London International Convention Centre (EL ICC), with ticket prices ranging from R450 to R10 000.

Organisers say the event aims to spotlight Buffalo City’s cultural and community icons while strengthening the province’s tradition of nurturing local talent.

In addition Spokesperson of the organisation Likhona Bubulu underscored the significance of honouring Eastern Cape excellence. “The focus is on acknowledging where we are and where we are coming from, making it a moment to honour the past and envision the future,” Bubulu told reporters.

Acting Chief Executive Officer(CEO)of the awards and Human Rights agency CEO Romeo Qetsimani said the initiative, launched in 2014 was designed not only to celebrate achievers but to provide long‑term support to individuals making an impact in their communities. “We want to move away from the trend where people win awards and their careers peak, only to end up struggling and seeking donations on social media,” Qetsimani said.

“Our goal is to create a sustainable platform that continues to support and develop our legends, ensuring their impact is felt long after the awards,” Qetsimani.

He added that the programme’s broader mission is to restore dignity to community work, storytelling, culture and leadership. “These awards are a platform that not only acknowledges excellence but also restores dignity to these vital aspects of community life,” he said.

Furthermore, The Home of Legends Excellence Awards is expected to draw a diverse audience of community members, industry figures and cultural leaders, promising an evening dedicated to honouring individuals whose contributions continue to shape Buffalo City’s identity.
