HOGSBACK- One of the Eastern Cape’s most anticipated winter lifestyle events is set to return bigger and bolder this year as the fifth annual Music in the Snow festival heads back to Hogsback from 28 to 30th August 2026.
Organisers have unveiled the Music in the Snow Hybrid Edition, promising a packed weekend of live entertainment, outdoor adventure, cultural experiences and camping in the heart of the Amathole Mountains.

The festival, which has grown steadily since its inception is expected to attract visitors from across South Africa for a unique blend of music, nature and local culture.
This year’s edition introduces expanded accommodation options, allowing festivalgoers to stay on-site in premium camp tents or bring their own tents and caravans for a minimal fee.
Festival director, Mlindi Ntloko said reaching the fifth anniversary is a significant milestone for the event. “The Hybrid Edition represents the evolution of Music in the Snow. We wanted to create an experience where people can fully immerse themselves in the beauty of Hogsback while enjoying world-class entertainment, adventure, culture and community. This year is about bringing people together to celebrate music, nature and the unique spirit of the Eastern Cape,” said Ntloko.

Set against the backdrop of Hogsback’s misty forests and mountain scenery, attendees can expect an unforgettable winter getaway as the season transitions into spring.
Organisers say internationally renowned artists will headline the festival, with the full entertainment line-up expected to be announced in the coming weeks.Furthmore, beyond the music visitors will be able to enjoy three themed lifestyle spaces a Beer Garden, a Wine and Champagne Garden and a Whiskey Lounge creating a diverse social experience throughout the weekend.
Traditional winter cuisine will also take centre stage, with festivalgoers able to enjoy local favourites including umngqusho, mnqambulo, ulusu, potjiekos and braai meals designed to keep visitors warm during the mountain winter.In addition adventure enthusiasts can look forward to what organisers describe as the festival’s biggest hiking experience yet, with new trails and outdoor activities planned as part of the celebrations marking the event’s fifth year.

Ntloko said organisers had worked to create a more immersive festival experience following feedback from supporters over the years.
“We have listened to our supporters and expanded the offering to include on-site camping, more outdoor activities and diverse lifestyle experiences. Whether you come for the music, the hiking, the food or the atmosphere, there will be something for everyone at Music in the Snow 2026,” he said.
To make travel easier, organisers are also exploring shuttle packages that will allow visitors from various parts of the province and country to enjoy a hassle-free road trip to the festival.The event continues to play an important role in promoting tourism in Hogsback and supporting local businesses during the winter season, drawing hundreds of visitors to one of the Eastern Cape’s most scenic destinations.
Ticket and camping packages officially went on sale on 5th June, with organisers encouraging early bookings as demand is expected to be high.With live performances, firelit nights, camping under the stars, mountain hikes and authentic cultural experiences on offer, the Music in the Snow Hybrid Edition is shaping up to be its biggest celebration yet.The festival takes place from 28 to 30 August 2026 in Hogsback.
