Chintsa sparkles as Classique Festival returns for a second toast

CHINTSA – The seaside gem of Chintsa is set to sparkle once again as it hosts the 2nd Annual Wild Coast Cap Classique Festival on 30th August 2025 at the stunning Birkview Lodge.

This premier celebration spotlights South Africa’s finest Methode Cap Classique (MCC) wines, alongside an unforgettable mix of music, gourmet food and coastal charm.

Guests can sip and savour tastings from top South African producers including Simonsig, Pierre Jourdan, De Grendel, Stellenrust, Ken Forrester, as well as Italy’s Zardetto, adding an international twist to the festivities.

Beyond bubbles, the festival promises delicious cuisine, live performances and a vibrant, stylish atmosphere that captures the essence of the Wild Coast. Local businesses will also showcase their products, giving the community a welcome boost.

This year’s musical spotlight shines on the legendary Vusi Mahlasela, recipient of the South African Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, joined by Ngqeleni-born Afro-soul star Ikhona, acclaimed jazz artist Natalia Rungan, soulful vocalist Ncumisa Garishe, gospel DJ Groovie Christ and the ever-popular DJ Welo.

Festival founder Nontutuzelo Sibango said, “This festival celebrates the artistry of our winemakers while building a cultural and economic cornerstone for the Eastern Cape. It’s a tribute to the women driving growth in hospitality and a symbol of our vision for an inclusive, vibrant Wild Coast.”

In addition project manager Sinethemba Gayiza added, “Preparations are in full swing and the venue is being transformed beautifully. Guests from across the province can expect a safe, stylish and unforgettable experience.”

Furthermore, Festival director Papama Mnqandi noted, “Music shapes the mood of the festival. We’ve curated a lineup that blends iconic performers with emerging talent, creating an elegant yet lively celebration of wine, food and sound,” said Papama.
