QONCE- Meet Hlumelo ‘Lika Ndebe’ Gqegqe(24) who originates in Qonce a first year student pursuing Diploma in Agri-Business at Agricultural College, is making waves as a dedicated young farmer and inspiring mind behind Sthathu Agricon. Officially registered in 2022, this passionate entrepreneur is not just farming he’s revolutionizing the agricultural landscape with cutting-edge solutions designed to bridge the gap between the farm and the table.
Hlumelo’s journey began with a relentless thirst for knowledge about the agricultural sector. With a lifetime committed to mastering the nuances of farming, supply chain management and problem-solving he equips himself to tackle the challenges within the industry head-on.
“I started this business because I wanted to change the narrative around traditional methods of agriculture, wanted to show off my versatility in the field,” said Hlumelo.
With him being young and having to balance school while he do it, time is a bit of an internal challenge but he is making it through.
Hlumelo and his team are on a mission to bring high-quality livestock and crops to consumers at affordable prices. Their mantra, ‘Bringing the farm to your table,’ encapsulates a commitment to sustainability and excellence. With the support of Young Farmers Official, they’ve begun to expand their market reach, leveraging insights from seasoned industry experts.
Hlumelo motivates other young farmers by saying, “There is nothing wrong in asking for help and also as young emerging and developing people we should come together to build the economy of this country.”
Furthermore he also emphasized that,“Give the youth tools and see what you shall reap, we are here to re-write the rules,” he added.
This young man is open to those who can kindly assist in any sort funding that will help him finish the piggery that he has started, however it needs final touches due to lack of funds.
Hlumelo’s company also offers services such as cropping, livestock farming and soil horizon identification.
