NAFCOC & Industry Eastern Cape: The rise of black business

EAST LONDON- NAFCOC Eastern Cape’s Vision for the Future.

The National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry(NAFCOC) Eastern Cape recently held a pivotal event at the East London International Convention Centre(EL ICC) in East London on 29th-30th May, 2025.

The event aimed to ignite the spirit of black business in the region, promoting economic growth, development and collaboration among stakeholders.

Empowering SMMEs.

The event brought together regional representatives, national leadership stakeholders and media showcasing NAFCOC Eastern Cape’s commitment to empowering Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs).

According to Deputy Chairperson of NAFCOC Eastern Cap Aubrey Manuel the key to success lies not just in receiving funding, but in developing businesses and communities. “Using your brain when running a business results in being a successful employer,” he emphasized.

Deputy Chairperson encouraged entrepreneurs to focus on developing their businesses sustainably, rather than just seeking financial gain. He highlighted NAFCOC’s efforts to promote economic empowerment and collaboration, citing the organization’s recent participation in a consultation with the Mayor’s court.

The event fostered partnerships and networks among businesses, government and other stakeholders, driving economic growth and development in the region.

Regional Chairperson of NAFCOC in Komani Maria Nyawula, , emphasized the importance of joining NAFCOC for businesses looking to thrive. “NAFCOC is still alive,” she said, encouraging entrepreneurs to take advantage of the organization’s resources and support.

Furthermore Inspiration Developments Director Yonela Siguba whose business is situated in Dutywa echoed this sentiment, highlighting the company’s efforts to empower small businesses, especially those in townships and rural areas.

The event welcomed new members into the NAFCOC Eastern Cape fold, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and connections needed to succeed.

In addition NAFCOC Eastern Cape Chairperson Albert Adam emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among members, citing the organization’s 60th celebration earlier this year.

As the delegates gathered at the EL ICC, they were filled with excitement and anticipation, poised to make a lasting impact and ignite the spirit of black business in the Eastern Cape.

With a shared vision and collective effort, NAFCOC Eastern Cape pushed for economic empowerment and unlocked opportunities for SMMEs to drive growth and development in the region.
