EC DoE’s digital learning initiative gains momentum

ZWELITSHA- The Eastern Cape Department of Education’s(EC DoE) efforts to revolutionize the education landscape in the province are gaining momentum, as part of its digital learning initiative the department is set to hand over tablets into two schools in the province.

According to EC DoE statement issued, MEC for education in the Eastern Cape Fundile Gade will officially hand over tablets at uLwazi High School in Mdantsane on 5th February 2025, the following day 6th February 2025 he will hand over tablets at St Thomas Special School in Stutterheim. Furthermore, these tablet handovers form part of the department’s efforts to enhance digital learning and education in the province.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and level the playing field for learners across the province, EC DoE’s digital learning initiative includes the distribution of 54,000 tablets to Grade 12 students equipping 286 schools with state-of-the-art E-Library solutions and providing training and support for educators and curriculum officials.

In addition, the department will also compile content for lesson broadcasting, supporting the Learner Attainment Improvement Strategy(LAIS). Moreover, ECDoE’s commitment to digital learning extends to educators and curriculum officials who will receive training and support to enhance teaching and learning.

This includes building capacity in digital literacy, online safety and effective technology integration. As the ECDoE embarks on this exciting journey the future of education in the province looks bright.
