MATATIELE- Principal of Bergview College one of the school in Matatiele where happened the circulating incident of a seven(7) year old child was allegedly raped at school has been accused for not taking legal actions of what happened in the school premises.
This comes after a loud shout on social media #JusticeforCwecwe where allegations stating that a minor was raped in October 2024 to this date no further actions have been taken by the school.
In light of the school to support the leaner, rather a transfer confirmation letter was issued to the parent learner although the parent never tasked for transfer letter.
“The parent did not formally requested the letter but in light of the current situation the school would like to offer the parent a transfer letter,” stated school principal FJ Pieterse on Annexure 7 with his signature.
In addition on 3rd December 2024 Bergview College Board of Trustees Chairperson DC van Zyl encouraged all parents and guardians to ignore the allegations and school shall continue on its normal duties.
“Kindly note that there is no evidence at the stage that this unfortunate incident happened to our school premises, the school will continue to operate as normal,” said van Zyl.
Furthermore Eastern Cape Department of Social Development MEC Bukiwe Fanta assured the community that urgent need will be taken.
In addition the Eastern Cape Department of Education on 28th March 2025 has severed the school with a notice to deregister within 24 hours and all learners that are currently enrolled will be placed in other schools in the area.
