Local entrepreneurs empowered with financial insights at master-class

EAST LONDON- Lwandy Ngebe and Co. hosted a highly successful and FREE expert-led master-class, ‘Mastering Banking and South African Revenue Service(SARS) Compliance for Small Businesses and Self-Employed,’ for Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality and Amathole District Municipality local entrepreneurs at Eastern Cape Development Corporation(ECDC) Head Office in East London on 26th March 2025.

The session equipped entrepreneurs and business owners with essential knowledge and practical strategies to navigate the complexities of financial management, banking and tax compliance.

The informative and interactive session, facilitated by Lwandy Ngebe and Co., featured a panel of esteemed experts, including Business Accountant Andrew Dube, Financial Law Specialist Thabo Mantyi, ECDC Manager for Enterprise Finance & Business Support Buseka Ningi, Account Executive at Capitec Business Banking Eastern Cape Wonga Nkangeni and Absa Financial Advisory Specialist Ken Gotyana.

Attendees including Malusi Maweza from Sikukhumbule Funerals and Bongeka Phaphu, Founder of Clinique Boutique. They praised the session for providing valuable insights into building a strong financial foundation, navigating banking and tax regulations and developing effective financial management strategies.

“We learned so many things that will help our businesses grow even more,” said Malusi Maweza. Buseka Ningi emphasized the importance of compliance stating, “We had a session with Small Medium Enterprises(SMEs) trying to assist them on how they can comply with government and banks so that they can be assisted with funding and loans when it comes to banks.”

Furthermore Facilitator of the masterclass Lwandy Ngebe shared her motivation for hosting the event saying, “I hosted the Banking and SARS Compliance Masterclass because of my own personal struggles with navigating these complex issues. I realized that many entrepreneurs and small business owners face similar difficulties and I wanted to share my knowledge and lessons learned with others.”

Additionally, the Chairman at Eugene Executive Airport Shuttle Ntuthuzelo Eugene Mfaka commented, “This session speaks the language of banking, outlining what banks require which is similar to what ECDC requires.”

To add owner of Kiddies Daycare from Mdantsane Cikizwa Gysmam shared, “I decided to attend because I knew little about finances when I heard it was free, I thought, ‘Why not?’ as it’s an opportunity for my growth.”

By empowering small businesses with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their finances effectively, the Banking and SARS Compliance Masterclass aims to contribute to the growth and development of businesses in the region.

Lwandy and Co., confirmed that the session is being called-in, in such places as Mthatha, Gqeberha and other corners of the province and they will be going into the drawing to find strategies to expand the session as local entrepreneurs are hungry for knowledge growth.
