Youth-owned business thrives in Port Alfred

PORT ALFRED- Nkosi Yamntu Holdings(Pty) Ltd. a youth-owned business based in Port Alfred is transforming public spaces and uplifting local lives through its grass-cutting and landscaping services.Since receiving support from the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), the business has been thriving, improving the efficiency and quality of its services and creating temporary work opportunities for local youth. The ECDC provided Nkosi Yamntu Holdings with landscaping equipment valued at over R70,000 including high-performance tools like a Husqvarna chainsaw, brush cutter, clearing saw, lawn mower, and more.

This support has enabled the business to expand its capacity and facilitate training in equipment handling and basic landscaping. The results of the efforts put into the business have translated into better service delivery, cleaner neighbourhoods and a steady rise in revenue.

The business’s success proves that young people in the Eastern Cape don’t lack ambition, they often just need the right support and resources to take their ideas further.

This Youth Month, we celebrate businesses like Nkosi Yamntu Holdings. Not just for the services they offer, but for the statement they make – that the future is not only coming, but it can also be built with one solid idea coupled with focus and knocking on the right doors.

According to ECDC, “The success of Nkosi Yamntu Holdings is a testament to the impact that targeted support can have on youth-owned businesses in our province. We are proud to have played a role in empowering this young entrepreneur and look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of the business.”

By providing the right support and resources, we can unlock the potential of young entrepreneurs in the Eastern Cape and build a brighter future for our province.
