EAST LONDON- Beyond Zero is pushing the boundaries of HIV prevention with its groundbreaking Best Practice Dissemination Workshop, Beyond Implementation. The three-day gathering which began on 26th November and will conclude on 28th November 2024 is currently underway at Hemingway’s Hotel in East London.
In a bid to promote inclusive healthcare, Beyond Zero’s Key Populations programme manager Edward Sibanda, has highlighted the organization’s commitment to providing targeted prevention programs for marginalized communities. “We offer prevention programs specifically designed for men who have sex with men, transgender individuals and adolescent and young people. Our goal is to transform the health structure and create a conducive environment that ensures LGBTQI individuals have access to essential healthcare services,” Sibanga explained.
Since its inception in 2003 Beyond Zero has been working tirelessly to address the unique health needs of key populations, promoting a culture of inclusivity and equality in the healthcare sector. With 21 years of experience, the organization remains dedicated to its mission of creating a more compassionate and responsive healthcare system for all.
Eastern Cape Department of Health MEC Ntandokazi Capa, has expressed her gratitude for an invitation to the workshop as the province prepares to host the national commemoration of World AIDS Day on 1st December 2024, at Sisa Dukashe stadium in Mdantsane.
“We are grateful for the invitation as we count down to hosting the national event for World AIDS Day, this significant event presents an opportunity for us to reflect on our progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS and to reaffirm our commitment to providing quality health-care services to all those affected by the disease,” MEC Capa said.
Adolescent and Youth Programme(AYP) Manager for Beyond Zero Pam Qavile has revealed the organization’s extensive efforts to support districts in seven provinces across the country, “We are currently supporting districts in seven provinces, working closely with sub-recipient organizations and community-based organizations to extend our reach and impact. Through these partnerships we are not only providing critical services but also building capacity among our sub-recipients to engage in research and further amplify our efforts,” Qavile explained.
By empowering local organizations and communities, Beyond Zero is taking a comprehensive approach to addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic ensuring that its initiatives are both sustainable and effective.
