The handover ceremony took place at the Shared Call Centre in East London on the 21st of November 2024, marking a pivotal moment for health-care in the province.

Broader chairperson of DGMT Dr Mivuyo Tom officially handed over the keys of mobile clinics to Mec Capa with these words, “MEC this is a signal that I have actually handed over the 8 mobile clinics to you, handle them with care.”

“We are really excited as a department, we are a department that is faced with number of challenges especially the issues of resources so when we get this investment to us it’s a big thing,”said Capa.

This generous donation underscores the commitment of the Eastern Cape Department of Health to bolster healthcare accessibility, especially for communities lacking fixed clinic facilities. These new mobile clinics are not just vehicles they symbolize a lifeline for those in underserved areas, designed for flexibility and efficiency, these mobile clinics will enhance the quality of services offered during medical outreach programs and ensure that healthcare reaches even the most remote locations.

In addition to receiving these revolutionary mobile clinics, the department also handed over recently acquired 10 mobile clinics to all districts, amplifying the impact of this initiative across the province.
