EAST LONDON- The South African Gospel Recognition Awards(SAGRAs) held its third annual ceremony on 16th November 2024 at East London’s Guild Theatre. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of South Africa’s rising stars in the gospel music space. It was an exceptional ceremony that drew in a crowd of over 300 attendees, including traditional leaders, gospel music veterans and iconic figures in the arts space.
That glamorous night was the best event ever for gospel artists featured inspiring speeches, incredible performances and the recognition of talented individuals who have made significant contributions to the gospel music industry in the country and region.
This year’s winners included the great Nothemba Nkala who took home the Promising Rising Star award, Nolundi Bomela, who won Best Gospel Music Project and Tehilla Africa, who received the Best International Music Project award.
In addition, the ceremony also honored legendary figures in the gospel music industry, including Mr. Hamilton Kubashe, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional contribution to the music industry. Legendary group Avante, Thembinkosi Booi and Lord Comforters also received Legendary awards for their invaluable contributions to the arts.
SAGRAs Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Zoliswa Sontshi expressed her gratitude to the attendees, sponsors and partners who made the event possible. “What an unforgettable night! The South African Gospel Recognition Awards ceremony last weekend exceeded all expectations and I’m still overflowing with joy and gratitude.”
