GQEBERHA- A 49 year old mother is allegedly accused of orchestrating the cold-blooded murder of her 22 year old son, Moegamat Thaafir Dollie.
Shayhieda Dollie(49) appeared on the 8th of November 2024 at New Brighton Magistrate Court in Gqeberha facing severe charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
The gruesome allegations stem from events on 28 October 2024, when Dollie’s desperate attempts to rid herself of what she deemed a troublesome son culminated in a horrifying plot. Struggling with her son’s battle against drug addiction, Dollie is accused of seeking advice from acquaintances who suggested a ‘permanent solution’ to her woes.In a shocking twist of maternal betrayal, Dollie allegedly collaborated with two accomplices, referred to only as ‘Shaun’ and ‘Oompie,’to hire hitmen from Johannesburg.
Initial plans to pay R80,000 for the job ballooned to a staggering R380,000 after delays in execution.
According to National Prosecuting Authority(NPA) spokesperson in the Eastern Cape Luxolo Tyali, “The sinister plot began when Dollie misled her son into thinking he had a job interview, only for the hitmen to abduct him under false pretenses.”Tragically, Moegamat’s life was cut short as part of a callous scheme to claim R2 million in life insurance funds that Dollie intended to use to cover the hitmen’s fees.As the state vigorously opposes bail, the court has postponed proceedings to 15 November 2024 to conduct a thorough profile verification, leaving the community in shock over the alleged actions of a mother against her own flesh and blood.
In addition the unfolding case not only raises questions about morality and desperation but also illuminates the dark intersections of family dysfunction and greed.
