Pregnant cashier shot in stomach at the drive-thru

GQEBERHA- A disturbing incident unfolded in Kwazakhele in Gqeberha on 13th January 2025, leaving a pregnant fast-food outlet employee fighting for her life. At approximately 11:15 pm a male suspect allegedly fired a shot through the drive-through window of a fast-food outlet in Zwide, striking the four-months-pregnant cashier in the stomach.

Eastern Cape South African Police Service(SAPS) spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said, “It is alleged an unknown male suspect shot a female employee at a fast-food outlet through the drive-through window. She is four months’ pregnant and was rushed to hospital.”

“The suspect drove away in a white Nissan double-cab bakkie. An attempted murder case is being investigated,” Capt. Beetge added.

The motive behind the senseless attack remains unclear, leaving the community in shock and outrage. As the investigation unfolds, concerns for the victim’s well-being and the unborn child’s safety are paramount.

“This is a very serious incident and we urge anyone with information to come forward,” Capt. Beetge said, appealing to the public for assistance.
