JOHANNESBURG- Eastern Cape creative enterprise Art Versatile Africa is making its mark at one of South Africa’s premier design and décor exhibitions, with the organisation using Decorex Africa 2026 to showcase the province’s artistic talent to a national audience.
Now on its second day at the four-day trade show at the Sandton Convention Centre, Art Versatile Africa based in KuGompo City in the Eastern Cape, says the exhibition has already opened doors to new opportunities, partnerships and industry connections.
The event, which runs from 30th to 2nd August has brought together leading designers, artists, makers and creative businesses from across the country.
Founder and Creative Director Litha Ncokazi said participating in Decorex marked a major milestone for the organisation.
“It has been quite an endeavour for us to finally make it here. Being at Decorex is a dream come true for us because we are intentional about making an impact in the creative and cultural industry. We operate at the intersection of knowledge, creativity, research and innovation,” he said.
Ncokazi said the exhibition had given Art Versatile Africa an important platform to showcase some of the Eastern Cape’s finest creative talent.
“We are proud to represent artists from the Eastern Cape, particularly from the OR Tambo District and Buffalo City Metro. This opportunity would not have been possible without the support we received from these two regions.”
He described the opening day of the exhibition as a success, with a steady stream of visitors engaging with the exhibition and several scheduled business meetings taking place.
“The first day was fabulous. We welcomed many visitors and held productive meetings. We are looking forward to building new relationships, meeting people from different backgrounds and expanding our network as a brand,” he said.
Among the artists exhibiting is Port St Johns-based creative Zolani Mpente, who said he was delighted to once again be part of Decorex this time as a member of Art Versatile Africa.
“I first came here with my boss, and I am very happy to be back to showcase my talent and continue growing in the art industry. Now that I am older, this is what I am passionate about and all I can do,” he said.
Self-taught artist Asive Latha described the exhibition as an invaluable learning experience.

“Decorex has been an amazing experience and a great opportunity to network and showcase my work. I am currently focusing on product development and I look forward to returning next year with even more work,” she said.
As Decorex enters its second day, Art Versatile Africa says its focus remains on strengthening its presence in the creative economy while creating greater exposure for Eastern Cape artists.
For the organisation, Decorex 2026 represents far more than an exhibition. It is an opportunity to place Eastern Cape creativity on the national stage, forge meaningful partnerships and lay the groundwork for future growth in South Africa’s creative and cultural industries.
