QUMBU- Qumbu-born entrepreneur Snazo Mpomane is defying odds and empowering others through her thriving business ventures. At just 33 years, she has built an impressive empire founding and managing Gertreace and Catering Services, as well as MaBillion Decor.
Her entrepreneurial spirit was sparked in 2018 when she started a kiddie’s clothing boutique while working as a service consultant at Capitec bank.
“I would utilize my leave to sell clothes and that’s when I realized my potential as a young woman,” she recounts.
Mpomane’s vision extends beyond personal success, she’s committed to empowering others, employing numerous staff members and sharing her skills to foster independence.
“I’m passionate about teaching others, enabling them to stand on their own feet without relying on anyone,” she said.
Her remarkable journey serves as a testament to determination, hard work and the impact one woman can have on her community.
In addition, she attributes her remarkable success to clarity of vision, exploration and a client-centric approach. “Knowing what you want is key to achieving greatness, explore various opportunities and identify what works best for you,” she emphasized.
Her passion for excellence drives her forward, “What keeps me going is the satisfaction of my clients their positive reviews motivate me to consistently deliver exceptional service,” she said.
“Planning and time management are essential I instill these values in my team, ensuring we provide top-notch service,” she reveals.
With branches in Durban and Mthatha, Mpomane’s entrepreneurial spirit continues to inspire. Growing up in the Eastern Cape she often looked to Gauteng’s thriving business landscape for inspiration.
However, she refused to let provincial disparities hold her back.
“Sometimes it’s the people you surround yourself with who shape your future, I drew motivation from friends in Johannesburg, determined to bridge the development gap in my own community,” she reflected.
“Weather conditions and unforeseen client oversights, like uneven terrain for tent setups, test our resolve. But we adapt, finding solutions to deliver exceptional service,” she admits.
Juggling motherhood and self-employment demands resilience, “It’s not easy, but my children drive me.I’m building a better future for them and that keeps me going,” she said.
She urged young entrepreneurs to take action rather than wait for funding. She advises them not to delay their dreams and to start with what they have, growing their business incrementally.
Furthermore, her own entrepreneurial journey began with a simple yet effective strategy: leveraging her existing skills.
She started making posters, utilizing her graphic design skills learned in school.
This humble beginning paved the way for her successful businesses, MaBillion Decor and Gertreace Eats and Catering Services.
