KWAMAQOMA- Raymond Mhlaba Local Municipality has unveiled a new fleet of 26 vehicles as it moves to strengthen its capacity to deliver basic services across the municipality.
The vehicles will be deployed to key municipal operations including electricity, waste management, roads and stormwater as well as Traffic Services.
Municipal Mayor Councillor Nomhle Sango said the new fleet would give municipal workers the resources needed to respond more effectively to service-delivery demands.

“We are delighted that the fleet will support the basic services our communities rely on daily including electricity, waste management, roads and stormwater,” Sango said.
“Giving our teams the right resources will help us respond quickly and effectively when residents need assistance.”
The municipality said the acquisition followed a Council resolution and was implemented by municipal management.

Traffic Services will also receive two new sedan vehicles, which Sango said would assist traffic officials in carrying out their duties and keeping roads safe.
The fleet comprises two tipper cage trucks, one 10-tube tipper truck, one waste compactor truck, two skip-bin trucks, a four-ton drop-side truck, two sedan vehicles for Traffic Services, six double-cab bakkies, seven single-cab bakkies and two aerial platform trucks.
Sango urged municipal officials to use the vehicles responsibly and ensure they are properly maintained.

“This investment is about giving our employees the tools they need to serve residents well,” she said. “As Council, we remain committed to supporting practical initiatives that help the Municipality deliver quality services to our communities.”
The municipality said the new fleet forms part of its broader effort to strengthen operational capacity and build a more responsive and efficient local government.
The fleet was unveiled on September 30.
