ECONOMIC NEWS- Black Business Council(BBC) has commended Nedbank Group Chief Executive Jason Quinn, for his commitment to appointing Black African women to lead core businesses within the bank.
Quinn, who joined Nedbank in June 2024 has made significant strides in promoting diversity and creating opportunities for previously disadvantaged South Africans. His first two senior and EXCO appointments have been notable, with Andiswa Bata and Nomonde Hlongwa being appointed to key positions.
In addition the BBC applauds Quinn for implementing the spirit of Employment Equity and Socio-Economic Transformation.
To this end the BBC is calling on all companies in South Africa to follow Nedbank’s example and provide Black African women with serious executive positions and the authority to lead core businesses.
In a statement issued by the council on 29th July 2025 emphasised that, “The organization emphasizes that Black African women should not be treated as an appendage in the corporate sector.”
The BBC is a confederation that represents black professional, business associations and chambers, and its primary purpose is to lobby the government on policy-related matters and advocate for policies that accelerate the participation of black businesses in the mainstream economy.
