BCM DUNCAN VILLAGE ICT HUB RECEIVES COMPUTERS

EAST LONDON- Buffalo City Metro’s Economic Development and Agencies(BCMDA) Directorate in partnership with Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), Telkom SA and Nelson Mandela Bay iHub (NMB iHub) handed over computers at Duncan Village, East London on, 17th April 2025.

The collaboration is founded on a shared need to support the growth of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMMEs)in the ICT sector through enterprise development initiatives.

The primary goal is for the Metro and its key stakeholders in this initiative to facilitate the successful integration of aspiring entrepreneurs into the mainstream economy as things are technologically advanced these days.

According to BCMM, these computers will help in addressing the significant technical, marketing, financial and skills-related challenges that hindered the growth and development of the ICT sector within the BCMMcommunity.

Metro Executive Mayor Princess Faku said the incubation hub will help boost the township economy. “By bringing these computers here, the Metro and its partners want to make access to information easy for all,” said Faku.

“We want to give our young people equal opportunities to develop themselves in their townships, without having to travel long distances seeking to improve their lives,” she added.

The hub will host classes to help SMME’S learn to navigate through the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
