MDANTSANE- In a country where joblessness is a harsh reality one woman’s story serves as a beacon of hope, Kholiswa Mda a resident of Mdantsane was unemployed for three years after completing high school.
Kholiswa’s determination and perseverance ultimately paid off, she landed her first job at Checkers Nahoon in East London as a humble till packer. Although it wasn’t her dream job, Kholiswa worked tirelessly driven by encouragement from her friend Luliswa Gqoli who worked at the store.
Her retail career which began in 2006 witnessed a meteoric rise. Kholiswa quickly ascended the ranks, becoming a cashier and then a Money Market Clerk.
By 2008, she was overseeing the cash office and receiving administration, her subsequent move to Komani in 2009 saw her assume the role of Stock Administrator.
In addition, Kholiswa’s leadership earned her a promotion to the trainee manager followed by a period as an administrative manager, in 2020 she attained the prestigious position of Regional Administrative Manager for the Chris Hani Region.
Kholiswa’s passion for her job is evident. “Every day is an adventure and I love the daily challenges I encounter,” she exclaimed.
Undeterred by her humble beginnings, Kholiswa plans to further her education in human resources or marketing.
Her advice to others is simple yet profound, “Seize opportunities and grow no matter where you start, there’s always potential to advance.”
Kholiswa’s story serves as a powerful testament to the rewards of perseverance and hard work. From till packer to top manager her journey inspires others to chase their dreams no matter the obstacles.
