MATATIELE- Matatiele Local Municipality is celebrating a major milestone in local sport as its netball talent continues to rise to provincial prominence.
Prisca Kanetsi-Makamole of Matatiele Netball Club has been appointed as head coach of the Eastern Cape Comets, who will compete in this year’s Telkom Netball League starting on 24 May.
Her appointment highlights the depth of leadership developed within the local sporting community.
Matatiele Netball Club (Matat NC) remains a dominant force, having won the Mayoral Cup more than four times a testament to its consistency and commitment to excellence.
The municipality also celebrates Princess Kanetsi, a former Mayoral Cup participant who will represent Eastern Cape Aloes in the competition.
Her progress underscores the importance of local platforms in nurturing talent.These achievements reaffirm the role of the Matatiele Mayoral Cup as a key driver of sports development, providing young athletes with opportunities to grow and succeed.
“Pele ya pele! Forward we move,” the municipality said, reaffirming its commitment to building future champions.
