World surf league to boost J-Bay local economy

JEFFREY’S BAY- The Democratic Alliance(DA) in the Eastern Cape leading Kouga Municipality has secured the World Surf League – Corona Cero Open J-Bay, taking place in Jeffreys Bay from 11th-20th July 2025. This event is expected to boost the local economy, creating job opportunities and showcasing the area’s natural beauty.

DA Member of Parliament in Eastern Cape Legislature Dr. Vicky Knoetze emphasized that , “This event highlights what can be achieved when capable and transparent governance is combined with a bold vision.”

The municipality has created hundreds of temporary jobs and developed skills in event management and safety standards. The event is expected to attract thousands of visitors, boosting the hospitality, retail and transportation sectors.

Local businesses including small business owners will also benefit from the increased demand for accommodation, catering and equipment hire.
