MTHATHA– In the face of deep-rooted social challenges across the Eastern Cape, the Gcinabantu Hutchson Ngcukayithobi Foundation is emerging as a beacon of resilience, compassion and transformative action. Established in 2022, this non-profit organisation(NPO) is dedicated to tackling gender-based violence(GBV) and other pressing community issues through a wide-reaching, people-centered approach.
The foundation operates across five key pillars; education, nutrition, sports development, women’s economic empowerment and legal consultations.
Through these focus areas, it strives to build stronger, safer and more equitable communities.
In an exclusive interview with Eastern Cape Daily News Chairperson of the foundation Brenda Ngcukayithobi. A defining feature of the foundation’s approach is the active involvement of men and boys in its gender-based violence prevention programs. “Boy-child and men mentorship programs are integral to our outreach initiatives. We believe that peace is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, equality and empowerment, ” she said.
This holistic strategy is already making an impact in Stoney Drift, East London the foundation provides daily cooked meals for over 200 children, ensuring they receive proper nutrition in a safe environment. In Luphaphasi, Thembelihle, it supports a crèche with over 30 children, while also partnering with other Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDCs) in Cofimvaba and Mthatha.
In support of its ongoing work, the foundation will be hosting a Golf Day fundraiser on 28 November 2025 at the East London Golf Club. The event will bring together golf enthusiasts, professionals and community stakeholders for a day of sport, networking and philanthropy.
The aim is to raise both funds and awareness for the foundation’s growing list of initiatives
