Masithethe course empowers unemployed graduates to make a difference in their lives

EAST LONDON– As the final session of Masithethe Counselling Services’ personal growth and counselling skills course drew to a close, the room was filled with a sense of accomplishment and newfound confidence. After five days of intense learning, sharing and growth the participants emerged with more than just certificates they carried with them a renewed sense of purpose and a toolkit to make a meaningful difference in their lives and communities.

From 06 to 10 October 2025, Masithethe Counselling Services held a five-day personal growth and counselling skills course, culminating in a certificate handover ceremony for the attendees.

The event celebrated the dedication and hard work of participants who gained valuable skills to help shape their futures.

One of the attendees, Euaene Links, shared her experience, “Before coming here I only had my Grade 12 certificate. This course encouraged me to do more, especially because I work in a school environment where counselling skills are essential. The knowledge Masithethe provided is exactly what I need to empower myself and respond effectively to situations at school. Receiving the certificate is a proud moment but more importantly, it motivates me to give back to my community. I encourage others to take this course it’s not just about counselling but also personal growth.”

Masithethe Counselling Services Director, Jackie Orsmond expressed her pride in the attendees’ progress, “It was wonderful to see everyone’s growth and the skills they developed during the sessions. We are confident that with this training, they are better equipped to serve their communities. We hope to see more participants in future courses as we continue our mission to empower people through personal growth and counselling skills.”

In addition founder of Educational Ways of Empowerment, Nhlakanipho Noqhakala a career adviser and also took part in the course. He commented on the impact of the program, “The skills I gained here not only empower me but also inspire me to help others. This certificate represents more than an achievement it marks a journey of learning that I will use to support my community with the knowledge acquired from the Masithethe.”

Furthermore attendees expressed immense satisfaction with the course, feeling equipped with new knowledge and practical skills that will enhance both their personal lives and their ability to contribute positively to their communities. The event highlighted the importance of continuous learning and the participants’ strong desire to apply their new expertise to make a meaningful difference.
