The South African Football Association(SAFA) has handed down a judgement in favor of Sinenkani Football Club(FC) in a dispute with SAFA EasternCape. The Disciplinary Committee’s decision, made on 29th May 2025, at SAFA House in Nasrec, ordered the forfeiture of points earned by Sinenkani FC in a match against Ravens Football Club due to a violation of Rule 30.1 of SAFA’s Competition Uniform rules.
As a result Sinenkani FC will retain their position as leaders on the Inland Stream log, the judgement also stipulated that the respondents will pay the costs of the complaint, including the complainant’s counsel fees.
The dispute arose from a match between Sinenkani FC and Ravens Football Club on January 25, 2025, which Sinenkani lost 1-0. The match was marred by controversy, including dubious referee decisions and off-field incidents.
Sinenkani FC has welcomed the judgement, stating, “We accept this judgement and believe that justice has been served.” The club added that the judgement should serve as a lesson to SAFA officials to conduct themselves in an ethical manner and adhere to SAFA rules.
The judgement paves the way for the decider match between the stream winners, although it remains to be seen whether Ravens Football Club will appeal the decision.
