Anelisa Jaxa makes a name in the sports industry

LADY FRERE- Born and raised in Lady Frere also known as Cacadu in the village of Mgqukwebe, Anelisa Jaxa (25) has made a remarkable name for himself in the sports industry after being crowned the Ultimate MVP winner of SuperSport’s prestigious talent search show in December 2025.

Jaxa’s academic journey began at the community-built Ikamva Senior Primary School (SPS). He later attended Mgqukwebe Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Ntsonkotha Senior Secondary School (SSS), where he completed his matric with a bachelor’s pass.

He later enrolled at Walter Sisulu University to study Human Resource Management, but eventually decided to follow his passion for broadcasting. In 2022, he joined Engcobo FM where he worked as a sports bulletin presenter and hosted the weekday sports show ‘Sport 5050’ at 18:30.

Growing up in a village without electricity, Jaxa found inspiration in radio commentators whose voices filled the airwaves. Fascinated by their storytelling and energy, he carefully studied and imitated their commentary styles.

At just 13 years old, he began commentating local Under-13 LFA League matches. Over time, he expanded his commentary to include rugby, football and boxing during his school years, steadily sharpening his craft.Jaxa’s journey on SuperSport’s talent search show was not without challenges.

Despite not making the top 10 in the initial episodes, he remained determined.“Despite not making the top 10 in the initial episodes, I seized a commentating challenge in episode three, which turned my fortunes around,” he said.

His perseverance paid off when he was ultimately selected from thousands of contestants to join the SuperSport broadcast team, bringing a fresh and passionate voice to South African football and rugby.

“I prayed daily, aspiring to work for major brands and to one day commentate internationally,” Jaxa added.

Now part of the World of Champions Jaxa expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity.“I feel like a champion and I’m humbled to be part of SuperSport’s calibre,” he added.

Jaxa also shared a message for young athletes and aspiring broadcasters, encouraging them to always give their best effort and remain disciplined.

Furthermore his victory serves as inspiration to many young people in rural communities across the Eastern Cape, proving that one’s background does not determine their future.
