KUGOMPO- The Amathole District Municipality(ADM) has begun a two-day Institutional Strategic Planning Session aimed at accelerating service delivery and unlocking economic growth across the district.
The session, held on 17–18 February 2026 at the East London Industrial Development Zone at KuGompo City, brings together political leadership, local municipalities, traditional leaders, Members of Parliament and key stakeholders.

Opening the engagement, Executive Mayor of ADM Cllr. Anele Ntsangani called for a renewed focus on implementation and measurable impact. “We must move beyond resolutions and ensure that our decisions translate into practical programmes that improve lives,” he said.
The municipality reaffirmed its core mandate of delivering water and sanitation services, disaster management, environmental health and promoting heritage and tourism development.
Ntsangani highlighted the district’s coastline, agricultural potential, indigenous vegetation and medicinal plants as underutilised economic drivers that could stimulate job creation and inclusive growth.

He further emphasised the importance of the District Development Model in aligning government, the private sector and communities to drive coordinated development.
“Through unity, innovation and commitment we can unlock the full potential of ADM and build a prosperous future for our communities,” Ntsangani added.
The strategic session forms part of the municipality’s broader commitment to improving performance under its 2026 programme of action.
