EAST LONDON- Boxing South Africa (BSA) has announced the immediate resignation of its Eastern Cape Provincial Manager, Siya Vabaza-Booi marking the end of a historic tenure that saw her become the organisation’s first female provincial head.p
According to a media statement released on Wednesday, Vabaza-Booi stepped down with immediate effect citing personal reasons.

Her departure comes just short of two years after taking office.
BSA described the decision as difficult, noting the significant contribution she made to the administration and development of professional boxing in the province during her time in the role.
“Boxing South Africa is grateful for the sterling work Ms Vabaza-Booi delivered during her tenure,” the organisation said.
To maintain stability in one of the country’s busiest boxing regions, BSA has appointed former Provincial Manager Mr Phakamile Jacobs as Acting Provincial Manager. Jacobs previously held the position and is expected to ensure operational continuity while the organisation undertakes the process of recruiting a permanent replacement.
Furthermore the Eastern Cape remains a key hub for boxing activity in South Africa, making leadership continuity critical to ongoing programmes and events.
BSA thanked Vabaza-Booi for her pioneering service and wished her well in her future endeavours, while also extending its support to Jacobs as he assumes the acting role during the transition period.
