AMATHOLE- The Amathole District Municipality (ADM) has assured residents that all municipal offices and service points will operate as normal on Tuesday, 30 June 2026 despite concerns over possible public action.
In a statement issued on Monday, the municipality said Tuesday would remain a normal business day and urged residents, businesses and stakeholders to continue accessing municipal services without disruption.
ADM said it respected the constitutional right of citizens to protest peacefully but stressed that demonstrations should not infringe on the rights of others.
ADM Spokesperson Sisa Msiwa emphasised that, “The rule of law must prevail at all times.”
Furthmore the municipality said, adding that residents also have the right to freedom of movement, access to essential services and the opportunity to earn a living.
The municipality appealed to communities to remain peaceful and respect the rights and safety of others, warning that any unlawful disruption of essential municipal services would not be tolerated and would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
In addition ADM reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted service delivery across the district.
